Home of Masjid al-Haram and the Ka’bah, where you perform the rites of Umrah: ihram, tawaf, sa’i between Safa and Marwah, and shaving or trimming the hair. Pilgrims usually spend most of their nights here.

The city of the Prophet ﷺ and Masjid an-Nabawi. Visiting Madinah is not part of the Umrah rites, but most pilgrims spend several nights here to pray in the Prophet’s Mosque and send salam.

Makkah
The mountain on the north-eastern side of Makkah where the Cave of Hira is located. The first verses of the Qur'an were revealed to the Prophet ﷺ in this cave.
مسجد قباء
Madinah
The first mosque built in Islam, established by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when he arrived on the outskirts of Madinah during the Hijrah. A hadith reported by Ibn Majah and at-Tirmidhi describes the reward of praying there as being like that of an Umrah.

Makkah
The mountain south of Makkah with the cave where the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr as-Siddiq sheltered for three nights at the start of the Hijrah to Madinah.

Madinah
The "Mosque of the Two Qiblas" is associated with the revelation instructing Muslims to change the direction of prayer from Jerusalem to the Ka'bah in Makkah, which came in the second year after the Hijrah.

Makkah
The sacred sites outside Makkah where the main rites of Hajj take place. Arafat, where pilgrims stand on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, includes Jabal ar-Rahmah. Visiting them during Umrah season helps pilgrims understand the Hajj journey.
جبل أحد
Madinah
The site of the Battle of Uhud in the third year after the Hijrah. The martyrs of Uhud, including the Prophet's uncle Hamzah ibn Abd al-Muttalib, are buried nearby. The Prophet ﷺ spoke of Uhud with affection in a hadith recorded by al-Bukhari.
